Proud To Be Me Family Camp brings LGBTQ+ families together to build community and experience the outdoors in a supportive environment. Enjoy camp activities, share meals served by Camp Sealth staff, and explore personal expression at this fun weekend camp!

Schedule & Activities
This camp will begin Saturday morning and end Sunday afternoon. There is also the option to attend Saturday only.
This weekend gives a designated space for queer-identifying folks and ally family members to build community at camp. Arrive Saturday morning and spend the day in classic camp activities, such as archery, arts & crafts, nature exploration, and more. The weekend will also include activities that explore queer themes, identity, and autumn. All activities are optional, and families set their own schedule for the weekend. Stay overnight to enjoy more activities on Sunday morning.
Some favorite activities from 2025 included poetry workshops with YouthSpeaks, identity crafts with Vashon Youth & Family Services, pumpkin carving, tie-dye, Saturday cartoon brunch, and Open Mic Night. Stay tuned for more information about what’s coming in 2026!
Youth Identity & Relationships at Camp
We welcome children and youth who identify as LGBTQIA2S+ and from LGBTQIA2S+ families. They are a part of our camp community, which we strive to make a safe environment for everyone. While romantic relationships are not allowed or encouraged as part of the youth camp experience, we encourage everyone to talk openly about themselves, their personal identity, and their family. We do not talk about the mechanics of sex or anatomy; we talk about sexuality as part of someone’s identity. Our staff are trained to facilitate age-appropriate conversations in a way that makes everyone feel comfortable and included without making judgments or creating an uncomfortable environment.
Youth who may wish to build community with other LGBTQIA2S+ campers but don’t want to attend with their family can also consider our Proud 2 Be Me Summer Camp sessions.
Facilities
Meals
Meals provided this weekend include breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday; and brunch on Sunday. Meals will be served buffet-style in our dining hall. Most dietary needs can be accommodated, so please provide any dietary restrictions during the registration process. Our coffee and tea bar will also be open during this event.
Lodging
Camp Sealth’s facilities are rustic but comfortable. Our all-season cabins have heat and electricity, as well as twin beds with foam mattresses. You will need to bring your own bedding, including sleeping bags, pillows, and/or sheets/blankets. Bathrooms and showers are located in separate buildings in each cabin area. Limited Wi-Fi is available in some camp areas but not in most cabins. A limited number of accessible cabins are available. See photos of our cabins here.
For Family Camps, each family is assigned their own room, although they may share a building with another family. If you are attending with friends or family on separate registrations, you may request to stay in the same cabin or nearby.
Location
Camp Sealth is located on Vashon Island, Washington, with 360 acres of pristine forest and over a mile of private beach along Colvos Passage. To reach Vashon Island, you will need to take a ferry from Tacoma, West Seattle, or Port Orchard. Please check the WSDOT website for ferry schedules and ticket prices.

Eligibility: This event is open to all LGBTQIA2S+-identifying people and their families—however you define family. It is open to all ages, but children under age 18 must attend with an adult.
Cost: We offer reduced and tiered pricing to make this event accessible to everyone. We invite families to pay at the rate that is comfortable for them; your choice is confidential and will not impact your camp experience in any way. (Tier C is closest to the full price of camp.)
- Tier A: $15
- Tier B: $55
- Tier C: $105
- Saturday-Only: Choose from the above tiers.
Financial Assistance
If the cost associated with tiered pricing is still a barrier for your family, we encourage you to pursue a financial assistance application. Completed assistance request packets are due no later than September 17, 2026 to be reviewed and considered. More information about the application process and eligibility criteria can be found here:
