Calling all high school teens! Join Camp Fire for an 8-week long virtual summer program for teens to build community, sharpen leadership skills, earn service hours, and have fun!

LEADing the Way Benefits

Weekly Virtual Meetings

Every Tuesday over the course of the eight weeks, Camp Fire staff will lead a virtual meeting on the Zoom platform. The meeting time will allow teens to build community by connecting with their peers in a structured and safe environment. Our curriculum will include leadership workshops or activities, social skill builders, games, and time to reflect on the changing landscape of these challenging times.

Volunteer Service Hours

Participants in our LEADing the Way group will be eligible to earn volunteer service hours! Teens will collaborate at the meetings to come up with safe ways to do community service during social distancing. Projects may be group or individual, virtual, at-home, or in-person, depending on King County phase progression. Each week, participants will have the opportunity to share about their service projects and brainstorm new ideas with the group! Camp Fire will work with teens to track their service hours and will certify hours earned for school or award community service requirements.

Special Guests

Camp Fire and Camp Sealth has a big community of trained, caring staff and volunteers who will be invited to join in our fun and assist with the mentorship of our teen groups. Teens might just run into some of their past camp counselors or leaders while participating in this program!

Who Can Participate?

All teens entering 9-12th grade in the fall of 2020 are eligible to register, regardless of past or current participation in any Camp Fire or Camp Sealth Teen Leadership program. Teens who have never participated in a Camp Fire program are especially welcome to join us!  Participants will be split between grade levels, depending on enrollment, so that teens are matched with their peers as much as possible. Teens who were registered for a 2020 summer program that was canceled will be matched with their peers as much as possible as well. For example, teens from our Camp Sealth LEAD program will be grouped with other LEADs. If you would like to ensure that you are participating with a friend, please express your buddy request when registering.

If you were signed up as a 2020 Camp Sealth LEAD , please fill out this form instead of registering through the above link.

Financial Aid & Discounts

As with all Camp Fire programs, financial aid is available. We understand that this is a challenging time for families and do not want your participation to be limited by a financial circumstance. Please contact Alex at alexk@campfireseattle.org to request financial aid for this program.

All participants, whether new, past, or current that invite a friend who registers for LEADing the Way that are new to Camp Fire will receive a $25 discount on your registration fees. During registration, you will find a line to enter your buddy’s name for this discount. The discount will be applied by our council staff before the first date of the program.
