Make the Season Bright for Camp Fire Kids!
Thanks to our exceptional Camp Fire donors, this year we welcomed a record 1,800 campers to Camp Seath, 150 kids in need are now attending our after school clubs and we have been able to make our popular teen leadership program year-round! One of our donors, Sara Daley, also known by her camp name of Alto, shares the incredible impact camp has had on her nine year old son Ethan below!
I have loved camp my whole life. The reasons that I value it have changed as I’ve gotten older. When I first went to camp at age 7, I was amazed by the lore, the nature, the joy. As I grew, it was where I could shed judgement, feel free, experience goofy fun, enjoy simple pleasures, create amazing friendships and develop independence.
It’s important to me that my son Ethan get to experience all the wonderful things that camp brings into your life because they make the rest of your life that much richer!
I especially wanted him to experience the cruise to and from Camp Sealth aboard Da Boata with the magical Captain Mooselips! Da Boata takes what could be an anxiety-inducing experience of heading to camp and turns it into the most fun party you’ve ever attended! It truly sets the tone for a transformative week allowing campers to have an epic, often tearful goodbye to their counselors and for new friends to reminisce on their week.
At camp, Ethan gets to dress up in goofy outfits, be endlessly creative, sing at the top of his lungs and experience the incredible amount of joy that comes without screens – with just his own imagination, candle wax, embroidery floss, and nature.
But, camp is so much more than just child’s play. At camp Ethan has made friends with kids from all different backgrounds, even from as far away as Korea. At camp, he has found incredible role models and mentors in his counselors. At camp, he has learned constructive ways to handle frustration and alternatives to acting out in anger.
These are all things that will help shape the man I hope he will one day become. Someone who can laugh at himself, love and care for the natural world, follow his passions, navigate relationships in a positive way and welcome and befriend people from all walks of life.
I hope that you will join me in making a special year-end gift to Camp Fire today!
Your support is needed now more than ever! Your gift today shows that you support an inclusive, welcoming organization that is making an incredible impact for my son, Ethan, and so many other kids!
