Please Note: Sense the Adventure operates as a gender-inclusive program, where all campers will share the same cabin together.

Sense the Adventure gives your camper the chance to slow down, connect with nature, and tune into their senses while still enjoying all the fun and excitement of Camp Sealth. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that blends classic camp adventure with mindfulness, creativity, and emotional growth.

Sense the Adventure gives your camper the opportunity to experience the magic of Camp Sealth while learning mindfulness and sensory awareness skills that will serve them long after camp. Alongside all the fun and adventure of traditional camp, campers will explore their senses, build emotional awareness, and create their own sensory coping strategies kit.

This program is offered in partnership with Katie Accola, Senior Clinician at Olympia Therapy. Katie has been part of the Camp Sealth family for many years, volunteering her expertise to support campers, train staff, and lead sessions at our family camps.

What to Expect

Each day, campers in Sense the Adventure will enjoy a balance of classic camp fun and calming, sensory-friendly activities. Campers will participate in art projects, mindful nature walks, breathing exercises, and gentle movement sessions. Time will also be set aside for quiet reflection, journaling, and sensory exploration.

Sessions are led by a combination of Camp Sealth staff and trained clinicians from Olympia Therapy, ensuring a safe, supportive, and enriching environment. Campers will stay in main camp cabins and enjoy the same meals and activities as other programs, with additional breaks and structured downtime to help them stay grounded and recharged throughout the week.

In addition to traditional camp activities, campers in Sense the Adventure will participate in experiences like:

  • Art and creative expression
  • Mindful nature walks
  • Guided breathing and stretching
  • Sensory exploration stations
  • Journaling and reflection time
  • Team-building games focused on connection
  • Creating a personal sensory coping strategies kit
