Community Connections is for teens who are excited about the camp community & leadership, are interested in working with kids, and who may want to be a camp counselor in the future. This 10-day session will combine a traditional camp experience with hands-on volunteer opportunities, mentorship of our younger campers and skills workshops. This program is a great introduction to Camp Sealth’s Counselor-In-Training and Riding-Staff-In-Training programs.
What to Expect
During your campers’ time at camp, they can expect to spend between 2-4 hours each day on community building, leadership and personal growth-related activities. They’ll do training workshops on leadership, get a chance to facilitate activities for younger campers, lead songs, as well as getting the chance to stay at camp over the weekend.
Community Connections campers will also work with our community partners to accomplish a service project. We will be partnering with Vashon Heritage Museum and another Vashon based entity. Even with trips off site, there is still plenty of time left to do all of the camp activities campers love – archery, paddle boarding, challenge course, and more!

Community Connections takes place over a two-week session at Sealth.
Starting in Session 5 (our short week) and concluding with Session 6.
For the 5.5 Double Session, they’ll stay at camp on the break between sessions – there are just a handful of campers who stay over on this break, so it’s a rare chance to experience camp nearly empty!
How to Apply
The Community Connections double session fosters independence and leadership in teens. All parts of the application must be completed by the teen applicant, not by their parents/guardians. If we determine that an application has been completed by a parent, the applicant will not be accepted. We also highly recommend that the teen applicant, rather than the parent/guardian, communicate with camp staff during their application process.

Future Leadership Opportunities
After completion of Community Connections, teens are encouraged to apply for the Counselor-In-Training (CIT) or Riding-Staff-In-Training (RSIT) program. Community Connections is not required to apply for and become a CIT or RSIT, but it will help you gain skills that are useful in the CIT/RSIT program.
