Take adventure to the next level! Try out river rafting, climbing, camping, and horseback riding in this exciting adventure to Eastern Washington. Spend the nights camping by the lake and days trying out the white water of the Wenatchee River, hike the trails of Lake Wenatchee, take a guided trail ride, and spend a day at a climbing gym.
What to Expect
This trip is ideal for those who love the outdoors and are up for a challenge! Some experience with the activities offered is helpful, but not required. This trip will include:
- Camping for three nights near Lake Wenatchee
- A horseback trail ride at Camp Sealth
- A day of climbing at an indoor gym (1-2 hours)
- A day of rafting on the Wenatchee River
- An extensive day hike near the campsite
Youth must meet the age/grade requirement for this program. This program is more physically intense than other Camp Sealth Adventure programs. Youth need to be physically able to climb, raft, hike, and ride horses. The day hike is an 8-mile round-trip hike that includes 4,000 feet of elevation gain. No previous experience is required, but youth should be physically fit enough to participate in all activities.
What to Bring
In addition to the regular Camp Sealth packing list, youth should bring:
- Warm sleeping bag
- Warm outdoor clothes (fleece and wool work best)
- *Backpacking pack
- *Sleeping pad
- Sturdy, lightweight hiking boots + extra socks
- Warm hat
- Thermal underwear (optional)
- Headlamp (optional)
- Long pants for riding (jeans are ideal)
Note: Starred items (*) can be borrowed from camp if you don’t have your own. Camp will provide helmets and boots for horseback riding.
Signed waivers are required for rafting and climbing, and must be returned by the start of the camp session. Waivers will be sent to you by e-mail within a few weeks of the start of camp.
Adventure trip leaders are experienced in leading trips and outdoor activities, are at least 21 years of age, and have WFA or WFR certification. Rafting and climbing are led by professional, certified guides or instructors whose safety record has been verified by Camp Sealth. Horseback riding takes place at Camp Sealth with our own riding instructors and we meet or exceed all ACA standards for horseback riding. Some activities may take place more than 30 minutes away from EMS access; staff will carry a satellite phone throughout the trip.
