Gluten Intolerance Camp

Back to "All About Camp Sealth"

The Gluten Intolerance Group provides healthy gluten-free alternatives for kids who are gluten intolerant.

Staff and volunteers from the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) partner with Camp Sealth during Session 6 (August 5-10, 2019) to prepare gluten-free meals and snacks for kids with Celiac disease. Food is prepared in a separate, gluten-free kitchen. Kids can enroll in any in-camp program during the designated GIG week. Most other special diets can be accommodated in addition to gluten intolerance.

Please note that the entire camp is not gluten-free; other campers attending camp at the same time will be eating food containing gluten. We do make every effort to avoid cross-contamination.

Camp Sealth provides gluten-free options during all camp sessions, however the food prepared during the GIG session is prepared by dedicated staff in a contamination-free kitchen. If your child is highly sensitive to gluten, we recommend attending this dedicated session.

To sign up for the GIG program, please contact Michael McGrath at michaelm@campfireseattle.org or by phone at 206-826-8937. Financial assistance may be available to those who are eligible. Contact the GIG for more information.

Note: The GIG camp is offered at the same time as the ADA camp for kids with diabetes. If you have a child with both diabetes and gluten intolerance, please contact Camp Sealth for information on how to register.
