Have the summer of your life while building your leadership skills!

Join us for this week-long camp for incoming 8th graders who are interested in developing leadership skills and working with kids. Through interactive workshops, you will learn about your leadership style and what it means to collaborate in team settings. Then you get the chance to put these skills into action by planning camp activities, shadowing activity specialists, and counselors.

What to Expect

This program combines many different elements to give teens a well-rounded experience and the opportunity to develop skills in multiple areas. You will spend the morning shadowing staff and volunteers then attend trainings in the afternoon.

Trainings include: tips and best practices for interacting with parents, SMART goal settings, being a child’s superhero and others to become a positive camp leader.  Additional trainings also include “kid skills” such as behavior management and age group characteristics.

There is no application and previous experience is not required. Although we do strongly recommend coming only a week or two per summer.

Goals of the CIT program

●  Youth will grow in confidence and gain leadership skills.

  • Youth will learn and observe behavior management.
  • Youth will gain skills for working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Youth will develop an understanding of how to work effectively and compassionately with children.
