Spirit & S’mores Raises $127,000!

Thank You to All our Attendees!

What a fun and festive evening we had with our alumni, volunteers, parents, and supporters on October 26th! Over 300 guests gathered at the beautiful indoor venue, Sodo Park, for an evening all about sharing the Camp Fire spirit. We celebrated with delicious bites and cocktails courtesy of Herban Feast, competed over lawn games, treated ourselves to gourmet s’mores and snapped a few pictures in the photo booth! All of this great energy lead us to have a rousing Raise-the-Paddle that helped us surpass our fundraising goal to raise $127,000 for Camp Fire youth and teens!

Camp Fire Alums Give Back

A big thank you to our wonderful co-chairs,  Leslie Rice and Danielle Brandli, a mother and daughter duo who has a long history with Camp Fire. They put in countless hours of work on this fundraiser and secured key sponsors to help us exceed our fundraising goal!

Leslie is the Senior Vice President and Business Development Office for Wells Fargo Bank and has been a Camp Fire Board Member for the past twelve years. She decided to get involved with Camp Fire because she was looking to support an organization that was focused on youth leadership and inclusiveness.

Danielle is an Associate at Kutscher Benner Barsness & Stevens and had participated in a Camp Fire Group in elementary school, as well as attended Horse Camp at Camp Sealth for three summers. Danielle credits Camp Fire with instilling in her a love for the outdoors and spoke about her experiences

“Camp Fire helped me grow to be who I am and it has had an incredible impact not only on my life but on so many other kids and teens.”

Spotlighting our Teen Leaders

“I used to be this shy and quiet, but still a little silly girl, who didn’t say too much in our meetings, to speaking in front of you today with great confidence. I am no longer that girl who just sits and listens, I am now the one who likes to have her opinions heard. Camp Fire is an organization that can mold young minds into something great.”

– Taijah Boldien, Camp Fire Teen Leader & Campership Recipient

We were thrilled to have Taijah & Delijah, who are both 3rd generation Camp Fire members, speak about their experience during their 13 years of Group Program, 8 years attending Camp Sealth, as well as their time in various Teen Leadership programs. Along with their group, FuGaFriPin (which stands for Fun, Games, Friendship and Camping), the girls retired their group shield last June and said it was the best feeling of accomplishment to stick with the same group for all of those years.

The girls shared memories of camping trips with their group, volunteering at an animal shelter, walking in the Veterans Day Parade, the Candy Sale and so much more. Taijah and Delijah ended their speech by thanking Camp Fire for bringing them and their friends together and even treated guests to the song, “Make New Friends.”

“I have made some long lasting friendships and mentors in my journey, both in my own group and at Camp Sealth. I would also like to thank our leaders in helping me find my way and what I wanted and also what I didn’t want in life.”

Celebrating 40 Years with Camp Fire!

We had the honor of having our beloved Boata Captain, Mooselips aka Paul Dudley, be our emcee for the evening. Mooselips has been driving Da Boata (the Argosy Cruise Ship that kids cruise to Camp Sealth) for 40 years now, which means he has brought 40 years of joy, laughter, and smiles to our Campers! We were so excited to surprise him with his 40 Year Plaque on the night of the event.

Mooselips was presented his plaque by Camp Fire alum Stephanie Lingwood and was later serenaded, “Hold On To This Day” by alums Teo Ekstrom and Sara Daley.
