NEW and Improved Teen Leadership Programs

We have restructured our Teen Leadership program at day camp to be more in line with our other Teen opportunities throughout the school year and at Camp Sealth. Part of this restructure involves redefining the different levels of Teen volunteers at day camp. The details are as follows:

8th Grade

Spend the week as Counselors-in-Training (CITs) and gain valuable leadership experience. The CIT Program is available at all of our Day Camp locations. Teens entering 8th grade next fall will be CIT’s starting this coming summer. Formerly open to 7th graders, this CIT program will feature newly updated activities with a strong emphasis on leadership, team building, time management, and shadowing the different positions at camp. CITs will earn community service hours and no training is required prior to the week of camp.

9th-10th Grade

Join our LEAD Program and learn new leadership skills, help out at different activity areas, and support camper groups. All LEADs are required to attend one off site training, held prior to camp, and the onsite training for each location at which they are volunteering. LEADs are encouraged to attend the optional LEAD training session at Camp Sealth overnight camp. The LEAD Training Week will include extensive leadership training to prepare both Camp Sealth and Day Camp LEADs for their future leadership roles this summer as well as outside of Camp Fire programs. LEADs will learn job readiness skills for working with children, time management, outdoor leadership, team building and goal setting, as well as development of their personal leadership skills.

11th-12th Grade

Become a Teen Counselor and lead a group of campers! With your co-counselor, you will be assigned a group of campers and lead them through their week at Day Camp. On some occasions Teen Counselors will assist at various program areas including outdoor cooking, arts & crafts and more. Teen Counselors will earn community service hours for this program.
