Waterfront
There is nothing like experiencing the gentle lapping of waves on the shores of Camp Sealth, the water can lull you into a calm unlike anywhere else. We have more than a mile of beautiful sandy beach that plays host to numerous waterfront activities that are here for you to master. From canoes, kayaks and paddle boards to rowing and sailing. Everyone can have the opportunity to enjoy the options available during our drop in slots throughout the weekend! Our knowledgeable waterfront staff will be present all weekend to keep an eye out, provide helpful tips to hone your skills and take you on an adventure beyond our docks. The late fall rays can keep you warm and toasty, while the chilly waters of the Puget Sound will leave you feeling refreshed!
Beach Time
That mile and a half of waterfront awaits you at the Campout! The beach at Camp Sealth is a lovely mix of rocky shore and soft sands on the northern end of our property. The rocky sections of shore are great for searching for marine creatures, while the sandy end is great for barefooted morning and sunset walks! The beach is home to a variety of marine animals, birds and other wildlife. The early morning low tides make for a great beach walk or run and as always – nothing can beat a Camp Sealth sunset!
Hiking
Did you know that Camp Sealth has close to 400 acres of forest and wetland to explore? There will be several miles of trails for you to explore during The Campout! You will be able to choose your own path with our selection of maps and trail difficulty ratings or you can join in on a guided hike! Spreading across the wetlands and second-growth forests, the many ecosystems and varieties of flora and fauna are just waiting to enchant your senses. We will have guided ‘Eat’ Hikes that will introduce you to the bounty of a fall forest in the Puget Sound and you will get a taste of everything from nettles to huckleberries with one of our knowledgeable naturalists!
Gardening
The garden at Camp Sealth is a soothing sight. Our garden will boast the end of summer and beginning of fall, typical of a maritime northwest garden that has enjoyed a moisture rich summer. Come and get a tour from one of our invested garden naturalists, as well as meet our camp chickens! This will be a great way to learn some easy tips and tricks you can take home for your own garden. For those who want to get their green thumbs dirty, feel free to join in and help us tend our beds.
Trail Rides
Enjoy the trails and the forest from a new perspective while on horseback! Explore the routes through upper camp which will be a tranquil ride full of fall colors. Our expert staff will carefully match you with a tried-and-true steed and lead you through our trails and meadows on your leisurely, hour long ride. Wrap up your ride with a photo opportunity when you arrive back at the barn and a chance to feed your horse a treat!
Fire Building and Outdoor Living Skills
Can you build a fire with a match? How about without using a match or lighter at all? Come join us for an Outdoor Living Skills playshop and try your hand at both! Shelter building, knots, survival and “Leave No Trace” will be just a few of the topics we cover. It’s time to get back to your more primitive roots while learning practical skills, all while under the beautiful canopies of Camp Sealth’s forest!
