Each of our eight summer sessions will feature various special activities and guests. Check out a few of them below!
“Meeko” & Her Snake Friends
In this optional activity, Meeko teaches about snakes and addresses the fears some people may have about them. Campers will have the opportunity to both interact with the snakes and learn about their senses and behaviors. Don’t worry – the snakes Meeko brings to camp are used to handling, are non-venomous, and don’t bite.
Campers will learn about how to handle the snakes safely as they gain information on how snakes smell with their tongues, sense vibration and heat, and thermoregulate. Meeko will also go over snake behaviors in the wild and genetics!
STEM Class with Robin AKA “ECOLOGY GUY”
Camp Fire’s Outdoor Education Manager Robin Dein also known as “Ecology Guy” will be on tap to teach our campers about urban nature, cool survival skills, and even how to start a fire. We love learning (and laughing) with him at day camp.
Story Time with “FriendOwl”
From kindergarteners to our teen leaders, everyone finds themselves drawn to the blanket for story time with FriendOwl—often while also crafting a friendship bracelet. A longtime supporter and volunteer with Camp Fire, FriendOwl brings warmth, wisdom, and joy to camp each summer. We are so lucky to have her!!
Crafting with Tandy Leather
Tandy Leather is back again this summer! Campers love stamping their own leather circles and bracelets, and Tandy brings the supplies and the fun. Her calm presence, passion, and creativity make her a favorite year after year.
