Announcement: All Camp Fire Summer 2020 Programs Cancelled

Dear Friends of Camp Fire,

With the heaviest of hearts, we have made the extraordinarily difficult decision to cancel all summer 2029 Camp Fire Central Puget Sound programs. The health and safety of our campers and staff remains the top priority and there is simply too much uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 for us to confidently operate a safe and high-quality camp this summer.

Over the past couple of months, our team of dedicated staff has worked tirelessly to examine every possible option to safely make summer camp a reality. We modeled alternative program plans, re-examined our medical practices, staffing requirements, licensing regulations and accreditation standards. However, after weighing the risks and considering guidance from the CDC, the American Camp Association, local health departments and medial experts, we made the decision to cancel our summer camps.

We are deeply saddened, yet there is no question this is the right thing to do. We know this comes as a great disappointment for everyone who has been eagerly looking forward to camp, especially during these difficult times. We also realize that you may have questions and encourage you to review our COVID-19 page for a list of FAQ’s as well as information on requesting a  refund, deferral, and/or making a donation.

Rest assured, we will make it through these tough times. And we will be here for you and your family on the other side – more grateful than ever for the opportunity to gather around the campfire once again.

In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy, and take care of yourselves and each other.

Rick Taylor
Executive Director
