Work at Camp Sealth on Vashon Island – Overnight & Day Camp

It’s not just a mile and a half of beachfront on the Puget Sound or the deep, forested hills stretching across 350+ acres, Camp Sealth is a place of growth, learning, and community. What sets us apart as a place to work? It’s the commitment we place on inclusion! We’re among some of the leaders in the country on our progressive staff mental health support and gender inclusion policies, along with the much-needed work we continue to put into creating safe spaces for campers and staff alike. We also are the first to admit, we have plenty of work and growth ahead. Be a part of that journey with us!

What else? We value variety! Staff at Camp Sealth work with a huge community of staff from around the state, country, and the world! Campers we serve are from ages 6 through high school so if you’re looking to gain experience with a breadth of ages – you’re in the right place. The variety doesn’t stop there though – while our Classic Camp offers activities like Arts & Crafts, Nature, Teambuilding, and Waterfront, we also have specialized camps such as our Wrangler: Horseback Riding Unit, Kiwanis: our Sailing Unit, and Adventure: our Trip, Travel & Backpacking unit.

We’re searching staff to help act as counselors leading small groups for the week in both classic camp and specialty areas. Have a knack for instructing? Apply as a program specialist! Like behind the scenes? Support specialists work in the fast-paced world of pack-out food and meal service, teaching multi-tasking, time management, and teamwork! There are so many options, we employ over 100 staff each summer and can help you find the best opportunity for you!

Volunteers bring the magic to Day Camp! Adult Volunteers might lead arts and crafts or science projects, teach campers how to build fires or make s’mores, play field games or sports, help out at the head table and keep our paperwork tidy, or lead a group of campers as a counselor.  Teen Volunteers have opportunities to participate based on their grade level in the fall, and all teens will learn new leadership skills!

Extend Your Season or Join Use Year-Round!

The fun, skill-building, and growth don’t have to start or stop with summer. Our Outdoor Education (OE) & Retreats department at Camp Sealth employs a small team of professionals to run those programs each spring and fall. This is a great way to be able to get a feel for camp as a year-round profession, or to get comfortable in the space before the energy of summer takes over!

As an Outdoor Education Instructor, you build an incredible skill-set in a short amount of time. Get trained on our low-ropes course, gain your USAA archery instructor certification, become a resident expert on the marine invertebrates of Puget Sound and the flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest Temperate forests and wetlands. Not only that but you live on-site at Camp Sealth in its beautiful shoulder seasons, full of fog, beautiful sunsets, and quiet trails with the view of the water from your window.

We’re looking to fill the last OE positions before Spring – Apply Now

Here’s what some of our past staff have been saying about working at camp last summer:

“Camp helped me break down barriers that the rest of the world put on me. I grew more comfortable in my own leadership and found my voice.”

“Working at camp completely changed me – it made me more open, capable, and compassionate and I get to give that to kids during their summer.”

“I gained perserverance from my time at camp – I’m so much more capable of working through stress and being able to respond positively.”

Find your space to belong this summer and change lives in the process. Youth are craving outdoor experiences and connection now, more than ever, and we need YOU to help create that unique, dynamic, and empowering community this summer.
